Citroën C5 sedan

by CarBuyer
- Powerful and economical diesel engine review
- Quiet and comfortable
- Handsome styling
- body in corners lean
- Questionable reliability
- Many rivals retain value better
"Few cars offer the kind of wafting the Citroen C5 does driving experience. It manages the kind of calm, only the best sedans can keep cruising . "

Citroen an enviable success record has interesting sedans build on the relaxed pace, the perfect supplement for French motorways. Fortunately, the Citroen C5 is just such a car and is perhaps an even better film for the scarred and UK motorway network smashed.
In this regard, it is more than a match for the likes of the Audi A4 and BMW 3-series, which so often bash and crash over bumps in the road can. Sounds good? Now there is a "but", and it is the fact that the C5 is not in the same league as those cars when it comes to excitement driving. Even models as can the Opel Insignia, thrill despite not much more costs. Also can compete with the reliability of the rival Citroen.
Where the Citroen C5 scrapes some ground is returned, the cost of operation and a sense of luxury offering on a budget. And few sedans at this price cut such a dash in the company parking lot.

diesel engines offer low fuel and tax bills
Because the Citroen C5 reaches the twilight of its life, has rationalized its engine range with a pair of 2.0-liter diesel , a producing 148bhp and the other 177bhp. This is just as well, because they were the pick of the range anyway.
is
The 148bhp version equipped with a six-speed manual and Citroen claims it can achieve 67.3mpg. In conjunction with CO2 emissions of 111g / km for a £ 30 year road tax bill and the running costs of the C5 are cheap as it gets for a car this size.
There is not much worse equipped with the 177bhp version with a manual transmission. It will record 64.2mpg and has CO2 emissions of 114g / km for the same road tax bill.Image 8 of 19

the C5 is brilliant the streets of Britain with smooth
The Citroen C5 is more relaxing than racy, so it'll appeal to as many buyers as it will alienate. It takes only a few hundred meters on a test drive to discover that absolute comfort Citroen was goal with this car, especially if it is equipped with the squidgy Hydractive 3+ suspension system. But even with the standard springs, wafts of C5 over bumps.
The compromise is that the car never really feels that in response to your steering inputs and it is hard to say what the front wheels do when curves. You can not completely control feeling; the experience is a world away a Ford Mondeo or Mazda6 from driving.
Both diesel engines are quiet, and the way they made low speeds is their strength well relaxed driving. Nevertheless, they are more than capable of providing thrust for overtaking required. For the record, the 148bhp engine in 9.4 seconds 0-62mph while the 177bhp engine takes 8.7 seconds to do the same.

models of comfort department
Only two trim levels available today in the C5 range are excel: the strange name VTR + Techno Pack and exclusive Techno-Pack, and will not for the equipment. This helps the miles course to soothe away, but it's features like triple door seals and a sound-deadening windshield that are really important.
There are a lot of shoulder, leg and headroom for four adults to get nice and comfortable. The seats are soft, but just enough to keep supporting the passenger firmly in place. All engines are quiet when driving speeds in the city and on the highway, too. Our only real complaint is that the layout of the buttons on the dashboard to control the radio and air conditioning are really small, tricky and difficult to operate.[1945015[

practicality & trunk

The 439-liter boot is smaller than 'some rivals
Unlike hatchbacks like the Mondeo and Insignia, the Citroen C5 comes only as a sedan and the Citroen C5 Tourer estate. This affects practicality, since the trunk lid open not anywhere near as much as a gasoline engine would. It's worse when you look at the hard numbers, where the 439 liter lags C5 place behind the 541 liters of the Mondeo.
Inside the interior a reasonable degree of practicality, however, offers with 60:40 split folding rear seats. The door bins and glove box are very small because they are largely used with the fuse box to -. Due to the conversion of Citroen from left to right handlebarImage 18 of 19

the car to numerous was subjected callbacks
Citroen certainly improves the reliability of their cars, but the C5 is one of the oldest models makes it - so its quality build from another time. The initial perception of quality impressed, but it does not take long to occur on errors by owners. Much have mechanical and electrical niggles found, which is only an inconvenience, while the car is covered by a three-year warranty, but a financial burden later.
The C5 has a maximum NCAP five-star crash safety rating from Euro, comes standard with electronic stability control. Citroën eTouch Emergency assistance system, the emergency services in the event of an accident is to inform another nice addition. -

C5 models want for small devices such as standard
Only two models in the C5 range are available: VTR neither is + Techno Pack and Exclusive Techno-pack, and exactly short standard kit. Even the "entry-level" VTR + model packs cruise control, power-folding door mirrors, height adjustable driver's seat, LED daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS and dual-zone climate control.
If you may need more, then adds the exclusive particularly comfortable Hydractive 3+ suspension and participate ~~ POS = TRUNC electrically adjustable front seats.
