"The Audi A3 sedan looks sharp and has an amazing interior and a wide range of engines. It is surprisingly practical as well."

Saloon cars are usually very popular in the US and Asian markets, with the UK favoring hatchbacks, but that has not stopped Audi to bring the stylish A3 sedan to our shores, and it's a good thing it did.
The A3 sedan is longer than the hatchback A3 on which it is based, which means that there is more legroom for the rear passengers, plus 60 liters more boot space. It's not quite as convenient as the five-door A3 Sportback because of its smaller trunk opening, but it is not bad. There is also a little less rear headroom because of the sloping roofline.
It is a good thing, inside enough space is there because the interior of the A3 sedan is a great place to spend time. It has the same smooth, classy layout as the rest of the A3 range and it feels nicely done.

There are not many competitors for the A3 sedan. The Mercedes CLA it runs close for good looks, but the simple elegance of the Audi - especially in the sporting S line trim - makes it our choice of the two. You could also go for the BMW 2 Series, if you do not need the extra set of doors for the rear seats. The BMW is more fun to drive also.
There are many engines in the A3 to choose both petrol and diesel. Our favorite is the 148bhp 1.4-liter TFSI petrol turbo. It is very smooth and has more than enough power. If you or if you prefer diesel high mileage driver, we would suggest the 148bhp 2.0-liter TDI, which is both economical and efficient.
If you're not bothered about low operating costs and want something with a bit more power, then it is always the S3 Saloon, which is operated by a 296bhp 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and comes with quattro Audi four-wheel drive system. It is from 0-62mph blow in less than five seconds and easily keep up with most sports cars.
Apart from the S3, it will not be difficult to pick an A3 sedan as it comes in only two trim levels - Sport Nav and S line Nav. We would choose the latter, because his muscular styling and extra kit it feel more desirable. It costs about £ 2,000 more than the Sport Nav, but we think it's worth it. You can disable the S-line tauter suspension at no cost, so you can still benefit from the sport is more relaxed ride.
