"The Mercedes GLS-Class is a spacious and comfortable SUV, but it is quite expensive."

The Mercedes GLS class (known before his late 2015 facelift as Mercedes GL-Class) is everything about size, space and luxury. There is space for seven people in luxurious comfort with ease while leaving plenty of room for their luggage, too. In isolation, it's an impressive vehicle, but compared to competitors like the Range Rover, Volvo XC0 and Audi Q7, it is not too good leave.
A very high list price is a problem, along with the fact that is the GLS easy to drive not as good as the Audi or Volvo. This is not as much of an obstacle to success in the Middle East and the USA (where most of the GLS are expected sales), as in Europe (where SUV buyers like their cars to be fun to drive).
For most British buyers, either the smaller Mercedes GLA-Class, Mercedes GLC-Class or Mercedes GLE-class should be sufficient -. and are cheaper than buying the GLS and run
There are only two versions of the GLS-class in this country offered: a relatively efficient GLS 350d diesel and a powerful Mercedes-AMG GLS 63, which is undeniably fast but cost to run an absolute fortune. Not hard to guess what we would recommend!

do not expect good fuel economy of this huge SUV
The Mercedes GLS-class is a large, heavy SUV so you can not really expect good fuel economy figures. The GLS 350d diesel model is the most efficient, but it itself provides only 37.2mpg and 199g / km of CO2 emitted, as road tax is £ 265 per year. The GLS 63 AMG, which uses a gasoline V8 engine is just 23mpg and 288g / km of CO2 emitted, put it in the highest £ 505-a-year tax band.
Whether you are not as strong as competitors such as the Land Rover Discovery and Audi Q7 for diesel or gasoline, resale values Mercedes GLS on the second ~~ POS = TRUNC market expected, so there really is not much was good news on the financial front.

Not bad for a big SUV, but it is better to be in a straight line than on a curved road back
Raser with the 5.5-liter V8 driven Mercedes delighted -AMG GLS 63 from 0-62mph in an open alarming can sprint thanks to its dizzying 580bhp power 4.6 seconds. So despite being seemingly larger than some houses, it is also faster than many sports cars.
Unfortunately, it all falls apart at the corners, where the big Mercedes' huge weight comes into play. You can not simply, this car to throw, but on the positive side, it is very quiet and comfortable in movement. The highway is definitely their natural habitat -. Not streets winding back
This makes the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine of the 350d GLS much better suited to the model character. It's certainly not as fast as the AMG version, but it's no slouch, either a 255bhp power ensures a rapid 7.8-second 0-62mph time. It also has many, that low-down-duty diesel engines draw known for are such that the diesel GLS provides (albeit quite expensive) for an excellent tow car.
are also in the diesel's favor, the fact is, it comes equipped with the latest Mercedes' nine-speed automatic transmission. The GLS 63 has an older seven-speed gearbox, which is not quite as smooth and fast through the corridors.

Interior & Comfort

Quiet , solid and relaxation over long distances
to go if you like it quiet cruising on the highway (or only have to do on a regular basis), you will definitely as the Mercedes GLS. It is extremely quiet inside to hear almost no wind or tire noise. It comes to iron also with air suspension as standard lumps and bumps in the road out. But although this large wheels business may look, at low speeds, they can make the ride less comfortable than it should be -. Especially if the road is potholed or you have a few speed bumps to negotiate
An electric power steering makes the GLS and completely control manouvre despite his very considerable mass - although you need to keep in mind to its bulky dimensions. The high-up driving position and decent visibility help with this.
This car is quite a while, and although it never feels poorly constructed or as Mercedes has in the cabin materials stinted, just does not feel as special as some other luxury cars are. In fact, it's beginning to feel a little dated. Mercedes has recently spruced up, but it's still not really on a par with the best of its competitors such as the Volvo XC0, Range Rover or Audi Q7. In fact, it does not feel as special as the home competitors like the Mercedes S-Class sedan.

The GLS-class is a gigantic car inside and out
The Mercedes GLS is big - very big. It is longer than the already pretty bulky Range Rover, which pays off when it comes to space craft. Even with all seven seats in place, you have a 295-liter trunk to work with, while the third row seats falling ups that. To 680 liters
The second row can be folded, a van release -like 2,300 liters for expeditions to the furniture store. There are tie-down points for smaller loads secure, but disappointing the lip is quite high.
The access to third-row seats can be difficult in some seven-seater, but the GLS deals with this you easily can turn the center seat of the second row forward, so that people can climb in. There is plenty of storage space for odds and ends, especially in the generously proportioned door bins and glove box.

reliability and safety

GLS class does not crash tested, but Mercedes has an outstanding safety standard
The Mercedes GLS class has not been tested by Euro NCAP crash test, so that there is no independent judgment about how it is fair in the event of an accident. It does feature loads of safety equipment, but also many airbags, anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control. Lane departure warning and automatic braking systems are also available to prevent, to get in a crash in the first place.
The predecessor "GLS, GL, a fairly reliable car was and the latest model of the motors have been tried and tested in many other cars in the Mercedes range. The brand finished 11th in our Driver Power 2015 survey customer satisfaction of the manufacturer rankings, so the ownership experience should be good overall.

Incredibly expensive to buy and to run - even if standard equipment well
isThe Mercedes GLS very expensive to start at about £ 69,000. that's good north of what you would pay for entry-level versions of its main rival, the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC0 and puts them on a par with the likes of the Range Rover and even luxury sedans like the BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XJ. and the Mercedes S-Class
But Standard equipment on the entry-level AMG Line trim level is well: you get keyless entry, 21-inch alloys, Park Distance Control, air suspension, LED headlights, heated -adjustable seats, infotainment Mercedes COMAND and navigation system, DAB digital radio, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof and a seven-speaker surround-sound stereo system.
designo version is much more expensive than the AMG line, but it adds Mercedes' Active Curve System ", which promises to improve ride comfort, maneuverability and safety at the speed and off-road. Even with on this trim level is a special interior design, temperature-controlled cup holder, electric blinds, massage seats and a heated steering wheel.
the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 gets its own design of 21- inch alloys, upgraded brakes, the Active Curve system, an AMG bodykit and AMG trim and lettering in the cabin.
