"The Mercedes S-Class Coupé an excellent blend of performance, handling, luxury and style."

seems at first glance, is the Mercedes S-Class Coupé almost the ultimate extravagant driving. It's huge, hard to run expensive, luxurious, fast, but not very practical. Take a look at its competitors, but - what are the likes of the Aston Martin DB9 and Bentley Continental GT -. And it starts like a good looking to
Admittedly, comparing it to a standard family sedan like the Ford Focus is your head reeling, but for this performance, luxury and comfort, the fuel consumption of 30mpg is actually leave quite impressive. Anyway, if you can afford the price list, it is unlikely to be too concerned by the cost of fuel and road tax.

No diesel or hybrid model means that the S-class Coupé has large fuel bills
, the Mercedes S-class Coupé fantastic performance sets the sky high car running costs in the perspective. It is undeniable that all models will be expensive to run, but if you can afford it, upwards of £ 100,000 to spend on a new car, you can probably afford to run, too.
There are currently three engines choose two of them use powerful twin-turbo V8 petrol, with the flagship S65 AMG model is a twin-turbo V12 gasoline. The entry level Mercedes S500 is 30mpg return while 219g / km CO2 emissions, the translation into the annual road tax of £ 20. This is actually not so bad when you consider that a £ 25,000 Subaru BRZ only manage 36mpg and costs £ 225 subject to tax each year.

the twin-turbo V8 Mercedes S63 AMG is slightly more expensive, managing 28mpg and 237g / km of CO2 for taxes of £ 40 per year, while the top model manage twin-turbo V12 S65 AMG only 23.7mpg and CO2 emissions of 279g / km for taxes amounting has of £ 505 per year.
If you have your heart set on one of the AMG models, we would the S63 as the S65 will cost a lot more money recommend only for a small gain in performance. Mercedes has no plans for a diesel, but a fuel-efficient S300 or S400 Hybrid could join the range at a later date.

Clever-Tech makes S-class a worthy rival to the Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin DB9
Thanks to a slightly shorter wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheels) is the Mercedes S-class Coupé even sharper and more fun to drive than its sedan namesake. This is not an easy task, not even when the S-Class sedan is one of the best treatment Executive Limousines is currently for sale. But with more than 2,000 kg, the S-Class Coupe is extemely hard and pushing it hard shows that it is not a sports car - the massive power to they offer an incredibly relaxed and fast cruiser rather than a nimble track is used to make car [
the handling is still, though impressive in view of the vital statistics of the car, and it does not come at the expense of ride comfort: the S-class Coupé is truly one of the smoothest and most comfortable cars in the world.
This is used to some clever technology, including innovative features like Active Curve tilting effect, partly at the cameras, the road to scan the suspension to produce, before the car hits a bump or turn a corner. It is an evolution of the Magic Body Control initially seen in the S-Class sedan, and while it initially feels quite strange, flattens the way it bumps and lumps is very impressive. In the corners, the car of lean body breaks through to tilt in the opposite direction in the seat, press stop in place.
None of the engines on offer disappoint. There are three powerful turbo petrols to choose from, and all make the car incredibly fast thanks to their enormous power outputs.
The 4.7-liter engine in the Mercedes S500 produces 449bhp and takes the car from 0-62mph in just 4.6 seconds. On paper, the powerful S63 AMG model looks like a performance bargain thanks to its 577bhp 5.5-liter V8, but it is only three tenths of a second quicker to 62 mph from rest, and you'd be hard-pushed noticed the difference in reality the 630bhp 6.0-liter V12 S65 AMG model.
Similarly, only two tenths of a second faster to 62 mph from rest than the S63, but cost around £ 55,000 more. Save some money and go for the S500 - it has all the power need realistic and extremely quiet on the highway. Or if it outright pace you're after, take a look at the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe.
We prefer the gearbox in the S500 also. The nine-speed automatic transmission is smoother than the fast seven-speed automatic SPEEDSHIFT MCT in the AMG versions. It changes gears quickly anyway, if you want to go fast, but has a more relaxed way in day-to-day driving.

Interior & Comfort

The Coupé has all the luxurious materials and tech from the salon by
As you would expect from a model based on the Mercedes S-class sedan, the S-class Coupé is a of the most comfortable cars that you can buy. Air suspension smoothes all but the worst lumps and bumps in the road, while the contoured leather seats extremely supportive on long motorway journeys.

But comfort is not everything this top-of-the-range Mercedes goes. It's good fun to drive, and technology such as Active Curve tilt debuts. The system operates using cameras on the front of the car, read the surface ahead and prepare annul the suspension accordingly lean body. It leans effectively in the opposite direction to what one would expect, move like a roller coaster in the seat. It feels a bit strange at first, but you soon realize that it helps the S-Class on the market the most convenient Coupé make.

practicality & trunk

for a car provided as a coupe into account is, the Mercedes S-class is actually very convenient
There are a lot of space for you and passengers in the two front seats, while all the dials, switches and buttons are easy to reach.
to take a few friends needed? Now, unlike the old Mercedes CL-Class (which replaces this S-Class Coupé), there is plenty of room for two adults in the rear. Getting them in might be a little difficult to electrically assist as well if the front seats slide forward entry, it is still a bit of a squeeze.
Once the passengers are there, they will not stretch able as much as they can in the spacious living area, but it's decent legroom and headroom is not bad. All vehicles are equipped with a large panoramic sunroof that covers most of the roof, as standard. A depression means that it does not eat into rear headroom as it does in some other sedans, SUVs and minivans
boot space is similar to the rear seat area -. All right, but a long way to the limousine for the final viability. You get 400 liters, like a VW Golf or Ford Focus offers more than the average family sedan. This means that you are to squeeze into two sets of golf clubs in a position, or enough bags for shopping trip or a few days away.

Mercedes has a good reputation for reliability, security and customer care
Just because the S-class Coupé is in relatively small quantities compared to more mainstream models like the Mercedes a-class sale Mercedes C-class and Mercedes e-class, it does not mean no less to be reliable.
Mercedes has built a reputation for reliability in recent years, an admirable 10th overall in our finishing driver performance in 2014 owner satisfaction survey. The quality is as good as it is, points of contact with all S-Class coupe feeling beautifully crafted and solidly built. The buttons and switches are transmitted from the sedan model and all the sophisticated technology has been tried, and elsewhere in the region.
As it is a very exclusive model, the S-Class Coupé been crash tested not -approved by Euro NCAP. However, all versions have a lot of safety equipment, including eight airbags, a system, the traffic sign and a driver drowsiness monitor can read. There is also a sophisticated system in corners to control body roll and keep the car quieter in cross winds.
The Mercedes S-Class Coupé can also be equipped with a Driving Assistance package, monitoring blind spot adds, track -keeping support, adaptive cruise control and a Night Vision camera.

expensive to buy, but to deny relatively good value competition
consideringThere are none of the Mercedes S-class Coupe, is to buy an expensive car , However, if you can compare it to its closest competitor, it actually looks pretty good value. Both the Bentley Continental GT and Aston Martin DB9 are more expensive, and neither can carry four passengers in such comfort. What's more, both of which are significantly more expensive to run. It is difficult to make a case value of the flagship S65 AMG model because it costs almost twice as much as the S500.
The biggest threat of the coupe comes from the larger, more practical and equally luxurious Mercedes S-Class sedan. For many, the coupe is sleeker look enough to justify the increased price tag, but those who want more bang for their money will be glad that you should know Coupé, even better to drive. The distance between the front and rear wheels is shorter and the suspension was lowered, which makes the S-Class Coupé fun. Avoid the flagship S65 AMG model as the small performance gain the extra £ 55,000 is not worth more than the S63, which already significantly more expensive than the excellent S500.
Standard equipment across the range is good, all models get on the dashboard LED headlights and two large TFT screens. Electrically adjustable seats, Bluetooth phone connectivity, satellite navigation and adaptive cruise control are also standard. Features such as a night vision camera, massage seats and a high-end Burmester stereo are optional.
All three models are heated very plush interior, with the flagship S65 get all the features possible, including and massage seats ventilated, Navi, a 360-degree camera, the massive 24-speaker Burmester stereo, car Internet access , TV, Swarovski crystal headlights, adaptive cruise control and the night vision camera.
used values for Mercedes models are very good, as a rule, but it is inevitable that a car up from £ 100,000 to lose a large part of its value costs within the first three years. However, we do not expect the Mercs value faster than an equivalent Bentley or Aston Martin to drop.
