"The SsangYong Rexton W is a very good value, but there is a way. Behind the class best in other areas"

The SsangYong Rexton W is a budget SUV. It's not really a competent enough to provide an all-rounder established large 4x4 vehicles like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Land Cruiser or Kia Sorento, but it's better value than any other SUV of this size in the past.

, the Rexton W high ride height, useful type and robust diesel engine it is to make a car that is likely to be used off-road or put to work towing. There is plenty of space inside, too, so it makes sense in some ways, even if it is in other behind competitors. A low price tag means that a much larger, practical car for similar money to smaller, more expensive SUVs can have, also.

It is quite far behind competitors in many ways, but. The interior looks especially clear in addition to competition dated - its fit and finish is simply not up to today's standards - so the SsangYong feels cheap and thin inside. The latest Rexton W is an improvement over its predecessor, such as a facelift it updated inside and out, but that was not enough to bring it to speed with the rest of the class.

the Rexton W is not large, either to drive. Although it is entirely off-road capable, it is less on asphalt and the loud and unrefined diesel engine is off the pace of softer, quieter engines in many competitors. Steering and body control are also very vague, so the SsangYong tends to roll in corners and feels quite unpredictable.

On the positive side, it is very well equipped, so you get a lot for your money. It comes in entry-level SX, midrange EX and top model ELX trim, all of which offer more in the way of equipment than you find in most rival - and for much less money.

MPG, Rates & CO2 runs

2 / 5

the 2.0-liter engine of the running costs are high, regardless of which transmission you choose

All Rextons get a six-speed manual transmission as standard but if you go for EX or ELX specification, you have the option of a Mercedes-sourced five ~~ POS = TRUNC automatic transmission. However, the 2.0-liter diesel engine, the running costs are high, no matter which transmission you choose.

Manual transmission versions 196g / km CO2 emit, while the automatic only 206g / km manage - a long way behind the class best. This makes your annual road tax bill go up, but fortunately fuel consumption is not too bad for a car like this. The models with the manual transmission equipped to 38.2mpg return and with automatic transmission should be capable of 36.2mpg.

motors, drive & Performance

1.2 / 5

the excellent ground clearance makes it capable off-roader

SsangYong Rexton W to drive on the road is not the best car, and from competitors like being outclassed Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento , An obsolete design, poor body control and vague steering makes maneuvering a hard drive - even on slippery roads. A high roof means considerable lean even when going through corners and making roads with the smallest bumps and potholes feel like an off-road course.

[1945071jedoch], the excellent ground clearance makes it capable off-roader, while there is less engine noise and vibration in the cabin, because it is more refined than previous models. It is a little noisy at the start, but that soon disappears when the car gets going properly.

Interior & Comfort

2.2 / 5

Not other SUV has so much space in such a competitive price

Both the SX and EX trims a decent tally of standard kit obtained and in aluminum look and chrome on the soft-touch material inside the car. Luxury seats make the EX model further stand out, but it can not meet Hyundai Santa Fe for quality that sets the standard in this area. That is, the SsangYong Rexton W will feel well built, in an agricultural, useful way.

The ELX trim a new beige and gray Leather seats (pictured below), a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel, 18-inch "diamond-cut" light alloy wheels and provides LED daytime running lights. Also featured are all-round parking sensors, heated rear seats and Kenwood satellite navigation.

The seven ~~ POS = TRUNC interior in different ways, the most needs to be configured. The third row seats are only large enough for children, but there is enough head and legroom for adults elsewhere in the spacious cabin - and no other SUV has so much room for such a low price.

practicality & trunk

3.4 / 5

A large glove compartment and thousands of cubbyholes it means a lot of space is

As would be expected of an SUV, the SsangYong Rexton W has a lot of space in the trunk. It can store 248 liters of luggage, but fold the rear seats down and the 1,338 liters of space, the rival to even the most spacious estate cars and 4x4 vehicles is freed. You have to remove the headrests annoying to do this, and you will also find the relatively high loading lip in the way if you lift heavy objects in the trunk.

A large glovebox, cubbyholes and storage boxes sufficient space to provide your articles to keep. This car should be an attractive option for caravan, because its location-wheel drive system allows to tow an impressive three tons.

reliability and safety

2.8 / 5

Five -Year unlimited mileage warranty should cover against any manufacturer defect

We do not know how the SsangYong Rexton W treated a crash because it was independent not tested by Euro NCAP yet not, however, all models do front and side airbags scored. Breakdowns should be no problem either, as this is a fairly robust and reliable car - but that the materials could wear down inside are warned with heavy use over time. We would not worry too much, though, as SsangYong unlimited mileage warranty covers you against mishaps during the first five years.

price, price-performance ratio and options

3.6 / 5

It is as big as a Toyota land Cruiser, but its affordable price comes close to that of the smaller cars

with prices starting from just £ 22,000, are not deny the SsangYong Rexton W, is a very good price-performance ratio. It is as big as a Toyota Land Cruiser, but its affordable price is that smaller cars like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Kia Sportage close. The money you get air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, seven seats and keyless entry.

However, closer look and you will see a find some cheap art cabin interior, do reflect the reasonable price, while the optional nav not large sitting is. You will not get much money for the car on the second hand market after three years, either, but the five-year warranty to go to make a way for the unlimited mileage.

" While it may seem an improvement, it still can not meet newer rivals for sharp driving dynamics on the surface. on the plus side it with standard kit will be charged and is secured by a generous five-year warranty with unlimited mileage. "
3 / 5
"Old-fashioned workhorse with a full 3.5-tonne towing capacity, seven seats, plenty of torque and antediluvian ride quality. Uncompromising, but in its way quite charming."
2.5 / 5
"the SsangYong Rexton W is cheaper than most of its mainstream rivals but high CO2 emissions, fuel economy and mediocre predicted residual values mean that the savings soon in the daily operation erode from car. "
