"The Peugeot 208 is an elegant and efficient small car, which is as many of its competitors better equipped."

the Peugeot 208 is a competitor to other superminis like the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo best-selling. Although it is not so much fun, how to drive these cars, has 208 pleasant, comfortable interior and a generous amount of standard equipment. The 208 is either a three- or five-door with the five-door will cost about £ 0 more. A recent facelift brought the styling to date and some new and more economical engines in the range, while the options list and grew.
If you hot after thrill of driving, the Peugeot 208 GTi hatchback (which we have reviewed separately) is thoroughly entertaining. The standard 208 is, on the other hand, comfortable and not intervene -. Thanks in part to its inert steering that offers little "feedback" through the wheel

One area where the 208 is its interior stands out. Step inside and you will become a much more convenient and streamlined environment treated as found in old Peugeots. The entire design is appealing, and soft-touch plastics abound, especially in high-end models such as the Allure and GTi Prestige. The 208 is a nice place to be than the Hyundai i20, although ultimately, the Volkswagen Polo has a classy interior.
One aspect of the car, agrees is his steering wheel. Peugeot has tried something else here, a small wheel with the intention of fitting that drivers looked over and not seeing through it the dials. It is an interesting idea that for some works, but larger and smaller people find it has the opposite effect of what was intended and obscures the gauges.
The 208 is equipped with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines available. The entry-level engine is a 1.0-liter petrol with 67bhp and it's fun to drive, yet economical, administrative 65.7mpg and costs just £ 20 per year in road tax. Regular highway drivers may complain about the lack of power available with this engine, though - put some of its 0-62mph time of 14 seconds to prove. The other petrol engine is a 1.2 liter, available with 81 or 108bhp. Both manage 62.8mpg and the 81bhp model is £ 20 per year are tax exempt. We recommend the 108bhp version, though, the superior performance and is also free from the vehicle tax thanks to its low CO2 emissions.

The diesel engines are all 1.6 liter, the use of Peugeot BlueHDi technology. They are available with 74, 99 and 118bhp and are free from the vehicle tax, thanks to sub 100g / km CO2 emissions. The 74bhp model is capable of an astonishing 94.2mpg return, when equipped with Peugeot start-stop system, called S & S
There is also the possibility, in some models, an automatic transmission specify, but it's a little jerky and the manual better. It's a shame that only the most powerful diesel engine and the GTi received a six-speed manual, although the rest of the way to leave with only five speeds. This means that the 208 is noisier on the highway, as it must be.
While the cheapest diesel £ 2,000 more than the initial cost about 1.0-liter gasoline engine, whose 80.7mpg economy means that if you cover more miles than most, you will appreciate how rare you must to fill. We recommend that the 118bhp diesel, if your budget to stretch it. With this engine, the 208 is capable of making the highway easy to overtake 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds, but still 78.5mpg back.
The 208 is available in five trim levels available, and gazed with Access A / C and rises above Active, Allure and top-spec GT Line. The GTi version is only in three-door and has its own trim levels. The entry level access A / C has air conditioning and remote control (as the name implies), cruise control, electric front windows and Bluetooth phone connectivity. The "base" Access A / C is a very good car equipped, but some may want the £ 800 to butt or so Peugeot queries Active trim, alloy wheels and a seven-inch infotainment screen, fully supplemented with DAB radio ,
As for the quality of its interior, has significantly improved Peugeot reputation for reliability in recent years, and during the 84th-place 208 (of 150 cars) in our 2016 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey appear average, 52. a place for reliability provides the 208 edge in the upper third. A 124th-place result for ease of driving is less impressive, unlikely to help with the small steering wheel Affairs. The 208 won the full five stars from Euro NCAP, which means there is no such concerns about the safety, but.
