"The Peugeot 308 GTi is a great-to-drive and economical hot hatchback with subtle sporting appearance and a comfortable interior."

Peugeot 308 GTi hatchback

The Peugeot 308 GTi is a performance-oriented version of the standard Peugeot 308 sedan. It is from 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds, but nearly 50mpg back. It competes with the excellent Ford Focus ST and Volkswagen Golf GTI, while a "mature" approach to offering the hot hatch experience as cars like the Honda Civic Type R and Renault Renault Megane.

(the three or five doors available) Unlike the Golf GTI and Focus ST (which is available as a hatchback or wagon), the 308 GTi is offered only as a five ~~ POS = TRUNC - although you a get the biggest boots in its class, so it remains a practical car. You also get a choice of power outputs. The turbo 1.6-liter gasoline engine with either 247 or 266bhp, called GTi 250 GTi and 270 respectively. Both return 47.1mpg and costs £ 130 per year in road tax, with CO2 emissions of 139g / km.

The choice of the more powerful engine adds about £ 1,500 on the 308 GTi of the list price, and while many welcome the extra pizzazz, it pushes the asking price to £ 28,000. This engine falls, the 308 GTi, the 0-62mph fractionated to six seconds dead, and get some improved interior details and handling upgrades.

Even in the less powerful 247bhp form but the 308 GTi faster on paper than either the Golf GTI or Focus ST; it is also generously equipped. All models are equipped with satellite navigation system, DAB radio, Bluetooth, cruise control, a rearview camera and sport seats.

Peugeot has intentionally taken a subtle approach to the 308 GTi styling, so there is sporty details inside and outside (such as the subtle body kit and red-stitched steering wheel), but the overall effect is a car that its performance credentials quietly wearing. This will appeal to some, but drivers who would rather make a statement, the Honda Civic Type R check-out a very sporty design should.

lowered to the street and stiffened suspension makes the 308 GTi feel agile and sporty to drive appropriately, with improved brakes to cope with the performance on offer. A five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP adds further reassurance, such as the recent reliability improvements do of Peugeot.

MPG, Rates & CO2 runs

4.2 / 5

Given the power to offer is business very well

Regardless of whether you choose the 247 or 266bhp model that returns 308 GTi 47.1mpg and emits 139 g / km CO2, for an annual road tax bill of £ 130. While no one buys a hot hatch with frugality in mind (and in sporty driving the economy will see FIG increasingly theoretical are) the 308 GTi is more efficient than many similar vehicles; the less powerful Volkswagen Golf GTI is one of the few competitors that can match it for fuel.

Peugeot three-year / 60,000-mile warranty average is not remarkable, even if the cost of maintenance should be reasonable, especially when compared to sports cars with similar performance.

motors, drive & Performance

[1945079die] 308 GTi is faster than many of its competitors

Even the less powerful 247bhp GTi 308 can go from 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds, the Golf GTi and beating Focus ST by a third of a second. the 266bhp GTi 270 model selection sees the 0-62mph time drops to six seconds dead. Keen riders also welcome this slip differential version that. the amount of energy that varies sent to each wheel depending on how much grip is available

on the road is the 308 GTi quite pleasant to drive any real hot hatchback and feels duty. It has lower and stiffer suspension than the standard 308 hatchback, while a wider 'track' (the distance between the left and right wheels) provides extra grip and makes the car almost like a go-kart feeling to drive.

Both the 250 GTi and 270 GTi are with Sport Pack Peugeot drivers who (if enabled) pumps the handling still a synthesized engine note within and sharpens on. The system works well and makes the 308 GTi driving even more appealing.

Interior & Comfort

3.6 / 5

The 308 GTi is very well equipped, but some may not be intoxicating Affairs

Peugeot was found very cautious in their approach to detailing the 308 GTi interior. There are subtle red stitching on the steering wheel, a metal gearlever and pedals and part leather sports seats, but the overall effect is restrained; some will find this a refreshingly mature approach, may want other the 308 GTi clearly felt from the standard 308 hatchback.

the Honda Civic Type R, in comparison, with bright red seats and makes no apologies for its sporty attitude. Whether Peugeot or Honda approach is preferable a matter of personal taste.

Whichever camp you, is in the fall, the 308 GTi certainly well equipped. You get a touchscreen infotainment and navigation system with Bluetooth connectivity and DAB radio, cruise control, dual-zone air conditioning and automatic lights and wipers.

The small steering wheel is likely to divide opinion: you tend to look meant about than to see through them the dials. Find Most drivers it works well, but if you larger or smaller than average, it is worth checking that you do not find it obscures the speedometer.

practicality & trunk

4 / 5

The 308 GTi has a large trunk, but the rear seat passengers more space want

one of the main selling points of a hot hatchback is that it sports car offers performance, still makes some sacrifice in terms of practicality. The 308 GTi achieved partial success in this area: its 470-liter boot is larger than that of the Volkswagen Golf GTi, Ford Focus ST and SEAT Leon Cupra, but rear passengers is the fact complain that the additional storage space seems to have come at the expense their footwell.

It is also in the nature of Braquet relatively little due to a particularly small glovebox. The door bins are medium-sized and while there are a few 12v sockets, total interior practicality is exhilarating.

reliability and safety

price, price-performance ratio and options

3.5 / 5

It is well equipped and fast, but the 308 GTi is also quite expensive

we tested the top-spec 308 GTi 270 model, which - in just over £ 28,000 - seems quite expensive. A Ford Focus ST is a half-second slower from 0-62mph, but it is also about £ 5,000 cheaper. Even the less expensive 308 GTi 250 model is not reached by the larger Skoda Octavia vRS of about £ 2,000.

Another 308 GTi specifies a relatively simple matter, due in part to the fact that almost every Peugeot fits conceivable extra as standard. In addition to the subtle body kit and sporty interior, you get Navi, a reversing camera, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, dual zone climate control system, keyless entry and go, LED headlights and Peugeot driver Sports Pack. In terms of extras, if you order the 308 GTi 250 model, you can update for £ 800 'bucket'-style sports seats 270th

Unless you want the 308 GTi in Standard Hurricane gray color, other color variants ranging from £ 525 Magnetic Blue bicolor Coupe Franche for £ 625. Other than that, the only options, a CD player for £ 0 and Peugeot connect SOS, which - for £ 240 - can the emergency services in case of accident automatically connected.
