"The latest combined Opel Astra a range of efficient engines, a pleasant driving experience and an elegant design is to make one of the best family hatchbacks in the sale. "

the Opel Astra has always been a big hatchback sold family but has lagged behind the competition in terms of performance and downright desirable in the past. This latest seventh generation model Vauxhall has all the stops pulled to ensure that the Astra can hold the head of the car high in this important and popular class.
It is true that the Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3 continues to lead the pack in terms of practicality, and that the Ford Focus is more driver cut, but the Opel Astra now carries fresh, stylish looks, has a wide range of efficient yet expressive engines and is comfortable and makes driving more fun. The Astra acquitted itself well in all areas and is a credible alternative to the Volkswagen, Audi and Ford, as well as other rivals like the Kia Cee'd, Hyundai i30 and Honda Civic.
In an attempt to help the economy and to improve the handling of the new Astra is a full 0 kg lighter than its predecessor. It is also slightly shorter than the old car, but thanks to clever design, there is more space inside than before. The overall design is modern and elegant, with headlamps that blend into the front grille and a coupé-style 'Flick' on the rear windows to give it a slightly sporty look. Vauxhall asks for less money for an Astra than before.

is the best route in Astra Estate the 99bhp 1.4-liter petrol model, but this engine is a bit old fashioned and slow to go below 12.6 seconds from 0-62mph. His 52.3mpg fuel consumption is reasonable, but not outstanding by far, while the CO2 emissions of 124g / km You see £ 110 per year charged in road tax.
Fortunately, turbocharged 104bhp 1.0-liter engine is not much more expensive, has a 0-62mph time of 10.5 seconds to buy more power yet. It is also to run much cheaper than the entry-level 1.4-liter engine, thanks to its 65.7mpg and low CO2 emissions, which do not pay a cent guarantee in the vehicle tax.

If you want more power there, it also a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, available with 123 or 148bhp. This can 52.3 and 51.4mpg return respectively, while both engines incur a £ 110 annual road tax bill. There's also a 197bhp 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, which provides such performance with a 0-62mph time of 6.6 seconds Hot Hatch - although it is the least economic engine in the line-up, with the fuel consumption of 46.3mpg and C02 emissions of 141g / km All of the diesels are 1.6-liter with an annual road tax bill of £ 145
and Vauxhall proudly calls these "whispering" to leave engines thanks to its peaceful nature. If you want a diesel Astra, you can specify the 1.6-liter engine with 109, 134 or 158bhp. The ecoFLEX version of the 109bhp engine will go from 0-62mph in 10.3 seconds, and is the cheapest to run thanks to its 85.6mpg economy. The 134 and 158bhp engines offer more usable power from 0-62mph in 9 seconds and 8 seconds respectively go still maintain official economy of 74.3 and 67.3mpg.

Inside the Astra feels modern and, even if it is more upmarket than before a long way, the Volkswagen Golf beat for internal appeal. All models come with Vauxhall 'IntelliLink' touchscreen infotainment system that is easy to use and reduces the dashboard of numerous keys -. Although Vauxhall, with conventional dials for the heating and air conditioning adhered
There are a lot of space for passengers with the get in the rear 35mm more knee room than was found in the previous car. The boot is a reasonable, if not exceptional, 370-liters: That's larger than the Ford Focus ", but smaller than the Volkswagen Golf of
on the street, the Astra is a pleasant and comfortable car drive .. the suspension balance is just right, little body provides lean in corners, but to protect you well from potholes and poor road conditions. the Ford Focus is the pack in terms of outright lead driver enjoyment, but the Astra is more involved, than it was before, and it is equally adept at steering through a twisty backroad, pootling on the highway cruising or around the city.

One thing that has not changed with the new Astra's Vauxhall bewildering variety of trim levels. There are seven of them in total, starting with design and rise by Tech Line, energy, SRi, SRi Nav, Elite and Elite Nav. All models come with cruise control, a DAB radio, alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, a color touch screen, all-round electric windows, air conditioning, Bluetooth phone connectivity and six airbags.
Of course, the equipment levels moves gets you more devices. The leather massage seats of the top-spec models are likely to be a rare and expensive option, but Navi and Vauxhall excellent OnStar concierge services are more meaningful extras. You can also get smart "adaptive" headlights, which allow you to drive with high beam without dazzling other road users - although they are expensive and could be more effective. We recommend Tech Line trim, the Navi features, a leather steering wheel and a larger touchscreen, without the price of the Astra expresses much too high.
The new Astra NCAP has the full five stars from Euro while Vauxhall 25 of 32 manufacturers place in our 2016 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey can be exhilarating, but provides a significant improvement over its 30th place of the previous year.
