"The Peugeot 508 SW is a comfortable and well-equipped station wagon, but his rivals have bigger boots and better value."

the Peugeot 508 SW is the station wagon version of the Peugeot 508 sedan. It is in this car is good looks and comfortable interior, a larger trunk and greater overall practicality to the mix. Despite this positive, the (stands, the Station Wagon or Sports Wagon depending on who you ask) 508 SW can not compete with rivals like the Skoda Superb Estate, Opel Insignia Sports Tourer and Volkswagen Passat for final space in the trunk. It seems also quite expensive compared to the Ford Mondeo Estate, the more fun to drive.
The 508 SW with diesel engines is available only if you do not meet that many miles and would rather have one petrol, you will look elsewhere. Peugeot makes a diesel-electric hybrid model (which we have reviewed separately) called the 508 RXH, but this has actually poorer economy than the most efficient diesel in 508 SW range, partly because it comes standard with all-wheel drive.

Luckily the conventional diesels all reasonably powerful and very economical. The cheapest is a 1.6-liter 0bhp engine, which returns 67.3mpg, emits 104 g / km CO2 (manufacture of motor vehicle tax only £ 20 per year) and takes the 508 SW from 0-62mph in 11.3 seconds ,
Moving to the 2.0-liter 150bhp engine costs about £ 1,0, and we encourage you to do this if you can. This engine has a better economy (72.4mpg), since it does not have to work as hard as the 1.6-liter, while the motor vehicle tax remains the same. In addition, the 0-62mph time drops to 9.1 seconds with this engine, making it the 508 to drive a lot more relaxed and easy.
The top-of-the-range 180bhp 2.0-liter diesel engine is faster still take with 0-62mph 8.6 seconds, while the road tax of £ 30 per year and fuel consumption of 64.2mpg making it cheap to run. This engine is not cheap to buy, however: it is only in the top-spec GT trim with an automatic transmission, worth over £ 32,000. For the money, you could have a well equipped Audi A4 Avant have property or 5 for about £ 1,000 more entry level BMW Touring Estate. Both will lose less value than that in the course of ownership Peugeot 508 SW, also.

While the top-spec to avoid engine, things remain fairly reasonable and the 508 SW is a well-equipped car. There are four trim levels, with Active Start and rises by Allure and GT Line on the top spec GT trim with the 180bhp engine. Active is a seven-inch touch-screen navigation system, DAB radio, Bluetooth phone connectivity, 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors and LED daytime running lights running.
Moving to the Allure model costs about 2,300 £ and brings a panoramic sunroof, a rearview camera, keyless entry and go, half leather seats (electrically adjustable and heated in front), 18-inch alloy wheels and an electronic parking brake , In adds GT Line double exhaust pipes, other 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and a few red stitching details on the seats for around £ 1,000 more.
contains the top-spec GT trim Full leather seats (complete with massage function for the driver) a driven bootlid, 19-inch alloy wheels and a color head-up display. But we would recommend the Allure model since it offers all the equipment that you likely to want while maintaining the 508 SW price relatively low.
The Peugeot 508 SW offers a comfortable and quiet driving experience. The steering offers little "feeling", but it is easy and makes the car easy to maneuver. The suspension does a good job of poor road surfaces ironing while body is slim well controlled when cornering. The 508 SW mantains the reputation of the great French cars for a relaxed driving experience. It's a long way to the excellent handling of the Ford Mondeo, but to be fair, most cars are.
Inside the 508 SW feels well built, with plenty of soft-touch plastic and comfortable seats. The rear passengers get plenty of legroom and headroom, and everyone will sit in the middle seat pleasantly surprised by the amount of space to offer, there be surprised when compared to a lot of cars. The dashboard and steering wheel are easily crowded with buttons, while the infotainment system works fast, but a little bit intuitive. Combining these questions to the correct switch search or control more difficult than it needs to be. The 508 SW of the 512-liter boot is reasonable if not exceptional: It is larger than the Ford Mondeo, but the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb offer 20% more space
Reliability is something of a mixed Bag. In our 2016 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey of 508 Limousine (mechanically identical to the southwest) came 83rd out of 150 cars. Build quality and running costs were praised, but a 109th place finish for the final reliability may give pause for thought. There is no such concerns about the safety, however: the 508 sedan has NCAP the full five stars from Euro, while all 508 SWs come with a number of safety features including Peugeot Connect SOS system that automatically alerts the emergency services in the event of a crash.
