"Whether you love or hate the new design, the Toyota Prius is an efficient, practical and well-equipped hybrid."

The Toyota Prius hybrid hatchback shows along how fast technology moves. If the original model was launched in 1997, Toyota had to spend a lot of time trying to explain what a hybrid was, how it works and why you should want one. Today, most drivers are on the idea of a conventional motor works with batteries connected and an electric motor, and most automakers offer a hybrid model in their line-up.
Many of these cars as the Volkswagen Golf GTE and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are changed conventional models, the extra motor and batteries to accept for hybrid power. The Prius, on the other hand, was always only a hybrid. This means it has been developed from scratch to accept bulky batteries and a heavy electric motor. Unlike the Golf GTE, for example, the Prius is not space in the trunk to sacrifice the batteries, nor does it require an extra stiff and uncomfortable suspension with additional weight to cope.

lives or dies A hybrid car to its economic figures and the Prius in this area continues to impress. While it's unlikely Toyota claims to achieve 94.1mpg number unless you drive incredibly conscientious, but the CO2 emissions of only 70 g / km mean a penny in road tax to pay, while the Prius a selected one of a group of cars still free of the London Congestion charge. Be warned, however, that due to larger alloy wheels, the two highest spec models emit 1 g / km above the magic 75 g / km, which qualify for this exception; they also increase the benefit-in-kind company car tax rate of 11 to 15% of Prius.
Despite these impressive efficiency numbers, the Prius is not perfect. How many hybrid cars, it uses a CVT automatic transmission, which is noisy when accelerating and deters spirited driving - even if this is how the entire handling of the car is much improved from the previous model. Going from 0-62mph takes 10.6 seconds and while you are unlikely to yearn for an open, quiet and winding B-road, the Prius acquits itself competent in all other driving situations -. Especially its natural urban environment
While hybrids are not more than the technological wonders seen they once were, the fourth-generation Prius has an interior that you, there is a through and reminded by modern car. The dashboard is dominated by two large central screen: the lower handles nav and infotainment features sat, while the upper screen a variety of driver information such as speed and how efficiently you are driving

There is a pleasant place to sit and, although there are some scratchy plastics low this can be today the vast majority of cars are said to sell. In general, the Prius interior materials in contact feel pleasantly soft, while the white trim details raise the general ambience. Passenger are relative well catered to room and while the rear has enough legroom, means that the tapered roofline headroom is a bit tight. Boot space is reasonable to 343 liters.
Toyota Prius in four trim levels offering, starting with Active and rising by Business Edition, Business Edition Plus and Top-spec trim Excel. Active Vehicle 15-inch alloy wheels, all-LED lights, Toyota Touch 2 infotainment system, a lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera.
Business Edition trim costs around £ 00 extra and adds wireless telephone charge, heated front seats, a head-up display that provides information on the windshield bar, a leather steering wheel and a blind-spot monitoring system. Business Edition Plus trim is a further £ 1,800 and includes larger 17-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors all around and a self-parking system.

top spec Excel models about cost £ 1,500 more than Business Edition plus and for that of the Prius comes with leather seats, navigation system and an improved JBL stereo, rain-sensing wipers and 17-inch alloys. Note that you can opt for free for 15-inch alloys on this model, although if London Congestion Charge exemption is important to you. Given the price hikes caused two trim level, we recommend the Business Edition model - true, you will have to do without a built-in, Navi, but you will really save a lot of money if you are willing to make this sacrifice.
has the latest Prius the full five stars in its Euro NCAP safety tests. Occupant protection is excellent, while the list of safety features also convinced Toyota adapts its "Safety Sense" package for all cars. These include automatic emergency braking, high-beam assistant (dips the headlights automatically when it senses oncoming traffic) and traffic sign recognition, the information such as the speed limit on the dashboard screen displays.
Reliability is obviously an unknown with such a new car, but despite its advanced engine and engine setup, the Prius has an excellent reputation for reliability and durability. This was attested by the previous models 29th place showing of 150 cars in our 2016 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey.
