Ariel Atom Cabrio

- Staggering performance
- Exciting in corners
- Unique views
- expensive to buy
- windshield is an optional extra
- you need a track to get the best from it
"Stripped-out, race-ready Ariel Atom provides ultimate wind-in-the-hair thrills - especially when you choose a version without a windshield. "
The fact that the windshield classified as an optional extra tells you everything you need to know about just how stripped-back, this British-built sports car. The entry-level version comes with a 245bhp 2.0-liter engine from the Honda Civic Type R and it is incredibly fast, with a 0-62mph time of less than five seconds. If you want to go faster, there is a supercharged version, while offering almost 500 hp in a limited edition V8 Atom, you can enter the speed and thrill of a street legal formula one car.

MPG, Rates & CO2 runs
-
the atom is tuned for performance not economic fuel
Since the Honda motor atom has been tuned to produce more power, the car is only capable of 31mpg fuel consumption and has fairly high CO2 emissions. As it is designed to be used on a race track and offer maximum power, the running costs of minor importance to its owner atom, although it will not be quite as high as one might expect, because the car is so light.

motors, drive & Performance
-
one of the most exciting cars of drivers in the world
combine the very atomic lightweight and spacious performance to provide a very fast car. The 0-62mph sprint is demolished in about 3 seconds, which is similar to a high-performance motorcycle. The top speed is 150mph, but it is in the corners, where the atom is characterized, as it requires minimal steering inputs and provides masses handle. If you want to get the most out of the atom, you must really try on a race track.
-
Interior & Comfort
-
deficiency of doors, windows and roof for a very windy ride
the atom traveling in is not a comfortable car to make. The sudden power output, mean acceleration and hard drive are most appropriate lanes to smooth roads and racetracks rather bumpy back. Highways are very disturbing for the driver and front passenger - we would strongly recommend a pair of helmets to make buying life more convenient, even if you go for the optional windshield.
-
practicality & trunk
-
short weekend breaks appropriate when there is no rain
the atom is hard work to drive the city, as all the controls are difficult. You are withstanding repeated abuse designed on a race track, not for the shops clamping down. The total absence of a roof, windows, trunk, glove compartment, the windshield or the heating makes even the simplest rides a challenge.
-
reliability and safety
-
Build quality is good, but there is no security kit
the Ariel atom used delivered a Honda engine, which is sure to be reliable. The rest of the car is built by hand and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. Since the atom is produced in small quantities, it does not need EU crash test regulations, so there are no airbags, anti-lock braking system or the electronic stability control to meet. Instead, the two seats with race-style four-point belts come to strap you and your passenger firmly in place.
-
price, price-performance ratio and options
-
It is expensive, considering how little you get
the entry atom costs about as much as a top-of-the-range Volkswagen Golf or BMW 3 Series, and is much more expensive than the Caterham Seven - his only real rival. But very few cars offer the atom of the performance level, also £ 250,000 supercars. Optional extras include a detachable windshield and carbon fiber headlight covers.
