"The Porsche Panamera is certainly no beauty, but it is surprisingly good to go for a luxury four-seater."

Porsche Panamera hatchback

Porsche lacks a sense of adventure might be criticized, when it comes to design, but its commitment to a fantastic driving experience shines with the Porsche Panamera. This oddly proportioned hatchback is Porsche's first sedan, but the German company has managed it feel like a sports car. It drives incredibly well, and the Panamera is one of the fastest ways to transport four people. You could leave their baggage behind him, though, as the boat tiny. The entry Panamera V6 is quick, the V8 engine Panamera S, 4S and GTS are even faster, while tremendously fast Panamera Turbo and Turbo S seem to defy the laws of physics with their performance and handling. Porsche has recently expanded the area include hybrid model and diesel versions, to reduce operating costs, but still fine Handling Keep Panamera.

MPG, Rates & CO2 runs

2.6 / 5

Normal engines not cheap to run, and hybrid is expensive to buy

Despite efforts by Porsche fuel efficiency to maximize - also the Turbo model comes with fuel-saving start stop - the most economical petrol Panamera manages only 30mpg, while the Panamera S, 4S, GTS and Turbo have all official fuel consumption in the medium to low range 20mpg. The gasoline-hybrid model is more reasonable, with an official combined economy figure of 42mpg, while the diesel returns 44.8mpg. The hybrid is much more expensive to buy in the first place, but. The hybrid model is really clever and very efficient - thanks to the low-emission road tax free and company car tax is very low. You can even go up to 22 miles on electric power, which is very handy if you have a short drive. Insurance and maintenance will not be cheap for each model, but these things are all relative, and no rival will be to keep any cheaper.

motors, drive & Performance

4.3 / 5

Gorgeous Porsche driving experience

are using near the center console cladding and a low seat, you feel like in the cockpit of a jet plane. A manual transmission is offered, but virtually all Panamera available as automatic. Porsche seven-speed PDK car can be operated by the drive itself, or via buttons mounted on the face of the steering wheel. Porsche offers optional paddleshifters mounted behind the steering wheel, and are a must if you plan quickly the Panamera on the ride. All versions treated well, although the Panamera Turbo and GTS models - come with a hi-tech active suspension system - the best are from the area. The steering is precise, the brakes strong and shift quickly. All wound up the engines to save fuel when the Panamera is at a standstill. The V6 obviously have to work to speed up the hardest, but it is still capable of 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds - or 5.9 seconds with the PDK automatic transmission. The Panamera S and 4S manage 0-62mph in just five seconds, the GTS is half a second faster it reaches the 493bhp Turbo in 4.2 seconds, while the Turbo S completion may in unbelievable 3.8 seconds. The Panamera is wide, it is difficult to drive on narrow streets, but few cars feel as stable and unloaded on the highway.

Interior & Comfort

3.3 / 5

Comfortable and quiet inside

passenger be held firmly in the firm, supportive seats and the rear passengers get individual seats also. Legroom and headroom in the back is not hugely generous but. The cabin remains quiet in Motion and Porsche engineers have road and wind noise is suppressed well. There are many buttons on the dashboard, which is great if you have a perfect memory, but for most it will be far too many. The engines can be heard, but only if they push hard, and they sound great - the diesel also is smooth and rattle-free. Porsche has recently driving the car improved although the sporty ride was not affected.

practicality & trunk

3.4 / 5

Lange cargo space with the rear seats folded

by conventional means, the Panamera is a very compromised sedan with a smaller rear passenger compartment and a small, oddly shaped boat. In the hybrid model, the boat is still small, so fit a set of golf clubs in the rear seats to be folded down. But when four-seat sports car it could be taken into consideration even practice- many cars in its category have tiny rear seats and a very small boat. If you really want to wear your Porsche four and their luggage, for a Cayenne SUV instead. In the past, the Panamera had rather poor visibility, but a larger glass area in the current version means visibility improved, especially when reversing.

reliability and safety

4 / 5

Well built, reliable and safe

the Panamera interior is beautifully finished, and aside from an early call on a safety errors related has proved to be reliable, the Panamera. But have Porsche dealers in the UK do not have the best reputation for customer service after the Auto Express Driver Power survey. Security is impressive, and cars are equipped with eight airbags and active stability management electronic system of Porsche. The 4, 4S and Turbo versions have the added traction of all-wheel drive. The Panamera was not crash tested independently, but you can rest assured that it will protect you well in an accident.

price, price-performance ratio and options

2.4 / 5

expensive compared to conventional luxury sedans

Compare the Panamera to conventional luxury sedans, and it looks very expensive- respecially efficient hybrid model. However, compare it with upmarket cars like the Aston Martin Rapide or Maserati Quattroporte, and it seems better value. All Panamera are running with alloy wheels, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, parking sensors, cruise control and LED lights under its standard equipment. Porsche PDK automatic transmission is available, but it is an expensive option in the entry-level cars.

Now it's performance is not lacking. After this slant nose is a 4.8-liter V8, which is naturally drawn into the S and 4S models, 400 hp delivers. But in the Turbo we tested, increases the forced induction power to 500 hp.

does what it does extremely well - it's fast, elegant and quite practical. The problem is, so is a Jaguar XFR - for a fraction of the price.

at almost five meters long and offers luxuriously spacious travel, especially for those in the back, helped further by a refined ride. The styling is not for everyone, but with the coupé an appearance, it is undeniably a Porsche and actually looks more close in response to. The good news is that it also takes over like a Porsche with great steering, minimal body roll and impressive performance.

from now will roll at half the Panamera Zuffenhausen from the 300 PS, 3.6-liter V6 and are supplied in the UK with electricity, there is a third of the Panamera sales account when deliveries start in June. Porsche has endeavored to make the ground floor model as enticing as possible, the choice to trim a clip of the cylinders from the V8 and not use the V6 from the Cayenne, which is a Volkswagen engine, and in any case not fit.
