Hyundai Ioniq hatchback ->

"The Hyundai Ioniq is likely to attract a lot of buyers who might normally choose a Toyota Prius."

The Hyundai Ioniq is the first car to be offered as a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and a pure electric vehicle. The first two versions go on sale in October 2016, with the plug-in hybrid terminal in 2017. The Ioniq is a neatly styled, though somewhat generic, five-seat hatchback much in the vein of the Toyota Prius - Be their is main competitor for sales. It has large Hyundai grille and a swooping, almost coupe-like roofline, the aerodynamics and therefore fuel consumption. improved

Other plug-in hybrid family cars like the Volkswagen Golf GTE, Lexus CT and Toyota Auris Hybrid, the Ioniq challenge, but the entry-level non-plug-in version (called simply the Ioniq hybrid) is cheap enough that it would probably seen as an alternative to wide range of conventionally powered gasoline and diesel models. supplied The entry-level version with a with current is 1.6-liter GDi petrol engine making 139bhp and a 43bhp electric motor. The latter is only there to increase the gasoline engine, however: in contrast to the upcoming plug-in version, the basic Ioniq Hybrid will not be able of travel on purely electric power for any distance. It will do in 10.8 seconds 0-62mph and can reach a top speed of 115 mph; Fuel consumption is a claimed 83.1mpg, while CO2 emissions of 79g / km ensure exemption from the vehicle tax, but not the London road.

The Ioniq Electric relies solely on a 118bhp electric motor for power and is more a rival for cars like the Nissan Leaf and Volkswagen E-Golf. As with all EVs, it does not emit CO2, therefore owners need not worry about either car tax or the congestion charge. The Ioniq Electric will also qualify to take for a government grant some of the sting out of its relatively high list price. Despite less power than the Ioniq hybrid, the electric actually accelerates faster, due to the way electric motors all their energy supply immediately when you press the accelerator. It will do 0-62mph in 9.9 seconds and tops out at 103 mph.

Both the Ioniq Hybrid and Electric Ioniq attractive company car options, with Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rates of 15% and 7% respectively. Standard equipment is also pretty good: light alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel, air conditioning and DAB Radio are standard from the entry level to, as security technology such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping aid and adaptive cruise control.
