"As a showcase for what could do electric vehicles, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV was impressive cheap to run and easy to drive, but that couldn 't for its high price make. "
the Mitsubishi i-MiEV was a tall, narrow city car (or Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle, to give his full name it) that could place four adults in relative comfort. While it is no longer available to buy new in the UK, there are still a few i-MiEVs for sale, although it is unlikely that electric and low-emission vehicles, you will be able to obtain a government grant (eligible for yet are), if you want a how Mitsubishi is no longer officially the i-MiEV offers.
the i-MiEV at the Mitsubishi i-based (which also is no longer sold), but the small gasoline engine of this car replaced with a 64bhp electric motor. The i-MiEV has been in conjunction with the Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot iOn and how both developed those cars had a 93-mile range when the batteries were fully charged.
The i-MiEV made sense as a city car: his small stature meant parking and maneuvering have could not have been easier, while the liberation of the two road tax and the London Congestion Charge made it incredibly cheap to run , However, because its batteries need to charge regularly, you really off-street parking required if you have thought an i-MiEV for the purchase - and a few townspeople have this option. Although dedicated charging stations are becoming more and more common, but in truth, the i-MiEV customer base was small, and this is reflected in its relative rarity.
The i-MiEV the biggest sticking point was, however, his price. Even after government grants were taken into account, the i-MiEV will cost almost as much of the BMW 3 Series - a far superior car that is incomparably easier to live with. It was also more expensive than the Nissan Leaf - a larger electric car with a longer range. Mitsubishi deserves credit the i-MiEV in the design, however: it was the first electric car produced in series, which was allowed to travel on British motorways and something of a milestone in the development of vehicles of this type.

the i-MiEV was cheaper to run than almost any other car
as the old saying goes, the quality will remain when the price is forgotten; to an extent, was that the case for i-MiEV customers. As soon as the high cost of an i-MiEV has been included for the purchase, the operating costs were minimal. No motor vehicle tax, no London Congestion Charge, free parking in some areas and - perhaps most importantly - No fuel costs made, seem to take the bus, as a costly affair in comparison

typically charged the i-MiEV batteries costs about £ 2 and a theoretical range of 93 miles even the most efficient city cars would approximately three times as much cost to cover the same distance. You would need to plan your trips carefully, however: not only that the i-MiEV batteries take 7 hours to charge from a domestic power supply, but see cold weather, hills and the operation of the air conditioning would so much shrink the range as 50% ,

motors, drive & Performance
- [1945084wardiestädtischeUmwelt] of the i-MiEV only really make sense, made in cities and towns
, when the i-MiEV, Mitsubishi clear focus on design. A tall, narrow body meant to and from gaps pinching slightly was impressive, while the light control and excellent visibility made easy work of parking. Because of the way electric cars deliver their energy, the i-MiEV was also impressively quick when moving from a standstill, and completely at home on the road in city speeds away. Due to its quiet running, though, they had to take extra care of pedestrians who would not necessarily hear the i-MiEV approach.

Outside of the urban environment that was i -MiEV reasonably competent on the road to keep on B-roads step, but to take the highway and the limits of its 64bhp engine was clear. The sprint from 0-62mph took a glacial 15.9 seconds and the i-MiEV high sides meant that it was subject to more winds than some cars.

Interior & Comfort
-
The i-MiEV was calm calm
Despite a futuristic electric car to be equipped with modern appearance, the i-MiEV interior was a little disappointment, I almost unchanged compared with the conventional Mitsubishi to be. The dashboard was a logical, albeit designed a little uninspiringly, but the quality of the plastics used a car has befit that cost almost £ 30,000.

Because it is used an electric motor, was the i-MiEV on the road and this lead to a very relaxed driving experience almost noiselessly. While driving faster, there was a slight whine from the engine and the lack of an engine note meant wind and tire noise were relatively noticeable, but overall the i-MiEV was almost eerily quiet. Four adults can also squeeze, without making too many compromises and for its size the i-MiEV was a comfortable car.
-
practicality & trunk
-
of i-MiEV was no less practical than its gasoline-powered counterpart
Mitsubishi engineers presented the i-MiEV batteries in which the fuel tank in which I sat, so passenger and trunk space were not affected disastrous conventionally powered siblings. True, two adults sitting in the back elbow would rub and the 166-liter trunk was not commodious, but as a city car, the i-MiEV was quite spacious, and the high roof prevented any sense of claustrophobia from the development.

The biggest limitation of the i-MiEV but was charging. Mitsubishi provided a five-meter charging cable, but the manual warned against using an extension, so you had to be able to close outlet to park with a network. Assuming that you could make this arrangement work, took a full load of 7 hours - although a dedicated public charging station would offer an 80% charge only 30 minutes.
-
reliability and safety
-
The electric motor and battery were robust, while the security was adequate
Mitsubishi was a fleet of i-MiEVs Japanese energy companies in the next few years the official release in advance, and was careful that production vehicles have been thoroughly tested and designed to ensure. The few moving parts and the relative simplicity of an electric motor it meant going little crooked, while a five-year / 62,500-mile warranty provided enough rest available.
The i-MiEV was the first electric car driving through Euro NCAP safety assessments and obtained a reasonable four star, with each adult and child occupant rating is 73% and 78%, respectively.

price, price-performance ratio and options

, the i-MiEV high asking price was hard to miss
If it was for sale, the i-MiEV was that the for government grants, (at the time) amounted to £ 4,500. Also for this discount, but the i-MiEV still costs £ nearly 25,000. For that kind of money, an entry level BMW 3 Series or a well-equipped Audi A3 were in reach. They really, really i-MiEV want to justify that price to ask, although business users, which authorizes an exemption were bought one. Standard equipment was sparse: you pay extra if you nav or an updated six-speaker stereo sat wanted.
