"The Peugeot iOn in the city is excellent, it feels fast, convenient and is incredibly quiet."
The Peugeot iOn is the sister car with the Citroen C-Zero, and both are built on and in the same factory as the Mitsubishi i-MiEV. The car started life as Mitsubishi i, a high but narrow four-seater small car with a small gasoline engine under the boot floor. Mitsubishi has a 64bhp electric motor and battery system developed to replace the motor and gives a range of 93 miles on a full charge. Peugeot and Citroen models cost less than the Mitsubishi, but have different bumpers and a stability control system to increase safety. The operating costs are small, but the price is very high.

electric motor means fewer moving parts to wear out
Peugeot claims that a full charge of the batteries is a range of 93 miles and costs around £ 2 in power. Peugeot dealers will have fast chargers that can be in 30 minutes by 80 percent charge. Electric car drivers also benefit from no fuel costs and parking, the London Congestion Charge and road tolls are all free. An eight-year warranty is also included.

motors, drive & Performance
-
the iOn is quick off the mark and the best in town
the iOn is essentially a renamed version of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, a car which has been designed with the clogged streets of Tokyo through. Thanks to the fact that an electric car provides all its torque when you press the accelerator, it's very fast off the mark and just always with the city traffic. You feel the extra weight of the batteries, but they are mounted low, under the floor, which means that body roll is minimal. The brakes are too powerful, as they are by the motor Aided because they regenerated energy back into the batteries. The iOn has only one gear, making it even smoother ride as the best automatic transmission.

Interior & Comfort
-
Four people can travel in comfort over short distances
As is electrically driven, the iOn is very quiet off the mark, but roaring tires and a shrill whirring of the engine are noticeable how to build up speed. The iOn is narrow, but large, which means that there is enough room for adults, although larger rear passengers will rub shoulders. The driving position is good to give the large windshield in front of an excellent view of the road. One of the few options is a cold package that adds a heated driver's seat and heated exterior mirrors.

practicality & trunk
-
rear seats split and fold decent trunk give
The iOn is very much a city car, and Peugeot are expected to be used by a single rider or driver and front passenger. The rear seats can accommodate adults on short trips, and despite the fact that the electric motor is mounted under the boot floor, 166-liter trunk for three or four bags of shopping is big enough. There is no rack and the rear seats split and folded down with ease, leaving enough space for a travel week to the supermarket.

reliability and safety
-
few moving parts and four out of five in Euro NCAP testing
Peugeot has differentiated by adding an electronic stability control system for added security the iOn from the i-MiEV. The iOn, i-MiEV and Citroen C-Zero were to be exposed to the first electric cars on the Euro NCAP crash test in February 2011, all four out of five stars scoring. Six airbags are standard to provide. As it is driven by a simple motor with a single gear in the transmission, the iOn has to go less wrong than a conventionally powered car in terms of moving parts.

Huge price means most lease
to pay As with all new technologies this price there for the comment, to accept it. In the case of the iOn, which means a list price at a level with a top of the range Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series, and this is also the £ 4,500 electric car subsidy the government. Peugeot admits however that very few private buyers purchase the car, but decide to rent it for £ 415 per month plus VAT, which includes a four-year warranty. There is only one trim level, which includes a lot of equipment, although the satellite navigation (£ 260) and metallic paint (£ 420) are optional extras.
