"The Shooting Brake looks great and is quite handy, but it is not as good as a BMW 3 Series to drive. "
of Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake extended the appeal of regular Mercedes CLA, which is a four-door coupe version of the Mercedes a-class hatchback. It follows a design formula for the larger and far more expensive Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake, and although you could describe it as a combination, it is more to the Tour suitability of regular CLA as a serious burden to increase towing.
It is located in a very slim niche market that no direct competitors. The Volkswagen Golf Estate and Honda Civic Tourer are similar in size, but far less oriented style. The CLA is often chosen, 3 against the Mercedes C-Class and BMW and the Shooting Brake also competes against the estate version of those cars, compared to it a little more affordable.
The CLA further tighten sales of a young audience, as you have previously chosen a Mercedes - and the CLA is to complete a popular car for A-Class owners. The Shooting Brake is highly styled, with a smooth, flowing roof and boxiness little of the traditional estate car. We think it is an attractive car than the normal CLA.
It has the same engine options as the regular CLA. The entry-level CLA 180 has a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 122bhp, then there is a significant leap into the 218bhp CLA 250 2.0-liter turbo petrol. The same engine, albeit tuned heavily, offers 381bhp in the very fast CLA 45 AMG version.
The diesel range is rather simple, with two versions of the same 2.1-liter engine puts out 136bhp (CLA 0d) and 177bhp (CLA 220d). All engines are coupled to a six-speed manual. with a seven-speed automatic is optional, although the four-wheel drive 4MATIC versions are only available with the automatic.
Trim Levels to start with the Sport model, then there is the AMG-line, the distinctive AMG 250 and finally the flagship AMG CLA 45. Functional equipment is on the whole the same across the range, with all models with dual-zone climate control air conditioning and a tablet-style seven-inch infotainment screen to the Garmin navigation can be added as an option (although this is standard in the 250). The differences between the models relate primarily to interior trim and styling elements.
It is worth mentioning that the sports model is the only version equipped with comfort suspension that. A better ride quality than the lowered comfort or lowered sports suspension elsewhere in the Offer found The ride is growing increasingly tight as you take the field.
The CLA 45 AMG is the performance flagship and post some alarming figures, including 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds. although no CLA is slow - even the least powerful diesel manages 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds, while still returning 67.3mpg fuel consumption. The choice of the automatic transmission actually improves to 70.6mpg this while the 0-62mph time to reduce just nine seconds. CO2 emissions for all diesel engines with the exception of the 4MATIC parked the car in the £ 20-a-year road-tax bracket.
The CLA Shooting Brake offers an interesting package of performance, style and low operating costs. While it's can not match the practicality of some competitors, many find his image irresistable.

MPG, Rates & CO2 runs

Both the petrol and diesel are efficient in terms of performance on offer
If you Shooting Brake to run after the lowest-priced Mercedes CLA, you need the CLA 0d diesel Automatic transmission. This combination should return 70.6 mpg fuel consumption and emits only 106 g / km of CO2, at a very affordable £ 20-a-year road tax. If you want a manual transmission, try changing these numbers to 65.7mpg and 109g / km to influence not the motor vehicle tax.
The CLA 220d diesel is more powerful, but still quite efficient with an automatic transmission and are a claimed 67.3 mpg while 108g / km CO2 - it is actually cheaper to tax than the less powerful engine with manual transmission
Turbocharging helps the two petrol engines to be more efficient than you think .. the entry-level CLA 180 will do 51.4 mpg and 128g / km of CO2 emitted, for the road tax of £ 110 per year. These figures are improved 52.3mpg and 124g / km, if you choose an automatic transmission.
The CLA 250 petrol 42.2mpg provides manual or 45.6mpg set as automatic, with emissions of 156g / km the manual car in the £ 185 road tax bracket. The automatic is a little cleaner breathing, the emissions to 143g / km and the road tax to drop to £ 145th
Add 4MATIC all-wheel drive form with the obligatory automatic transmission, the efficiency of the CLA aren 250 figures' t a lot better than the very fast CLA 45 AMG version, at 41.5mpg and 0g / km of CO2 for £ 185 annual road tax.
the CLA 45 AMG itself is a high-performance engine and probably will not look on the radar of people for reasonable operating costs. But it is efficient for what it is, promising average fuel consumption of just 40mpg and CO2 emissions of 161g / km for £ 185-a-year road tax.

Powerful engines, but ride and handling are disappointing
Unlike BMWs, Mercedes comfort and serenity on outright sportiness have traditionally prioritized, but unfortunately is not the CLA Shooting Brake as not ride comfortably as some other Mercedes models. He rushes through the broken road surfaces you rather see as each town and city in the UK, this is where it is likely to spend much of his time.
It smoothes at higher speeds on the motorway from, but sound insulation is not very good, with road and wind noise both intrusive. One can say that Mercedes has decided the pitch as a sports car, not a comfortable cruiser.
But you can not feel much of what is going on by the steering so that the driving experience is not very involved. We would recommend the optional comfort suspension and an indication of the smallest possible alloy wheel size (18 inches) for the best possible handling.
There is a choice of two diesel and three gasoline engines, although some are available only with certain trim levels. The diesels are basically the same 2.1-liter engine, the CLA 0 CDI producing 134bhp and CLA 220 CDI producing 176bhp. Neither is particularly quiet or smooth, although nice on highway enter downwards. There is little to choose between them, but the more powerful is only availble in expensive Engineered by AMG spec.
The gasolines for drivers with lower annual mileage are ideal. Again, the CLA and CLA 180 250 versions basically the same motor with different power outputs of 122 and 218bhp respectively. It also forms the basis of the engine in the top model CLA 45 AMG to deliver massive performance thanks to its 381bhp power.

Interior & Comfort
-
Comfortable and high quality, but standard kit could be better
the CLA Shooting Brake is largely unchanged interior compared to the CLA sedan and A-class hatchback. This means that you get a high quality finish, a large seven-inch touchscreen, a structured steering wheel and stylish louvers. It all looks very smart, and the cabin remains quiet on the move, too.
The interior is identical to the CLA and A-class, so it looks flashy, feel with 'Bullseye' vents and a floating central screen, but it does not have the same quality as larger Mercedes. While on an Audi A1, you feel like you are similar attention to detail, such as a Audi A6 scored, only on a smaller scale, the CLA Shooting Brake feels like it's built with a budget in mind.
Even as the sedan, the Shooting Brake with an "Exclusive" package to specify that. With contrasting stitching and aluminum trim in the interior around £ 2,000 and adds luxury features such as heated seats, leather upholstery costs The problem is the CLA quite expensive, so adding does nothing for its value and will only lead to more money lost, when you come to sell it.

practicality & trunk
-
slim design practicality harm to a certain degree
, it goes almost without saying that the CLA Shooting Brake is more practical than the CLA sedan - but it is not an old-fashioned load lugger either. The CLA Shooting Brake load capacity is 495 liters - 25 liters more than the sedan and actually five liters more than the C-Class T--. But the latter is still a practical choice because of its more conventionally shaped boot
The CLA is suffering from his swoopy roofline, making it more difficult to squeeze bulky items. the seats-down capacity of the C-Class is also worse "and its trunk opening is formed small and unusual
In the cabin, there is a similar story. roomier than the CLA sedan, but not as good as normal C-class T. There is 40 mm extra rear headroom, but larger passengers still feel a little tight. legroom and headroom are still a little tight for all approaching six feet tall or more, but the biggest problem is it because thanks to the high shoulder line is again a claustrophobic feeling.
would expect in the front seats, you get more storage space than you, because there is an electric hand brake instead of the usual large lever.

reliability and safety

Typical Mercedes reliability and many hi- tech security kit should
the CLA Shooting Brake shares many parts with both the a-class and CLA Salon, it is a proven design and any early teething problems have now been ironed out , The car itself is to have newly presented in our Driver Power 2014 customer satisfaction survey, but Mercedes was chosen as brand ninth overall in the UK by the owners, so that the ownership experience is clearly pretty good.
Security is another area is the CLA sewn up, dealing with a raft of hi-tech extras everthing you can to prevent an accident in the first place with. All vehicles receive Attention Assist that detects drowsiness and alerts you when you're at the wheel.
There are also Collision Prevention Assist, which helps to avoid accidents at speeds of more than 4 mph nod off. Seven airbags are standard, as Mercedes' automatic emergency call system and a pop-up active bonnet for pedestrian protection (which will notify the emergency services in the event of a serious accident). Lane Keeping Support costs £ 770 and you can also add rear side airbags for about £ 400th

price, price-performance ratio and options

quite expensive to buy and not as well equipped as we would
as CLA Shooting Brake actually has no direct competitors, it is difficult to judge whether it is really represents good value or not. There are definitely more spacious suits are for less money - but you can the CLA think distinctive appearance, noble image and luxurious finish are worth a little more for the payment
The range starts at just over £ 25,000. the entry-level CLA 180 Sport Handbook £ 43,000 rising to the top model CLA 45 AMG. All models get alloy wheels, a dual exhaust, comfort suspension, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and sports seats. The AMG-line version adds a bodykit, a different alloy wheel design, lowered sports suspension and stainless steel sports pedals.
