"This latest Audi A5 Coupé takes the impressive formula A4 and wraps it in a sharp new suit."
As always, the latest Audi A5 Coupe came hot on the heels of its meaningful Audi A4 sedan sibling, offering a similar driving experience in this car, but in a slimmer, stylish body.
It takes the form of the BMW 4 Series Coupé, Mercedes C-Class Coupé and Lexus RC on rivals. While there is no doubt, is the A5 has an arresting visual presence as the restrained A4, in our eyes, it still lacks the visual drama of the Lexus or the sheer class of Mercedes.

but is the slimmer, mean sportier body of A5 is driving the competent better, but rather uninspired A4 sedan, with which it shares so much? Unfortunately, not. It is not as big as the Series 4 engages by far, while the C-Class Coupe has beaten piles in the comfort also. The A5 is located in a rather awkward middle ground between the two and therefore not really convince in any discipline.
Under the hood there is a choice of petrol or diesel engines, to be with the 187bhp 2.0-liter diesel is probably the big seller. There is also a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with either 215 or 282bhp, while there are also two versions will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline, has 187 and 249bhp. The high-performance S5 model gets a 349bhp 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol V6. to replace the previous supercharged engine, this new engine to have better response than the old one, it is claimed, as well as lower emissions.

costs for the Audi A5 race should not vary too much from the equivalent A4 sedan
for this car Exact fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have yet to be confirmed, but expect to 55mpg and CO2 emissions of 134g / km for the 282bhp 3.0-liter V6 diesel - the only model we have ever driven. This should mean an annual road tax bill of around £ 130 for private buyers and putting it road tax band in the 26% corporate. There are no figures for the other engines yet, so we can not take a definitive position, but we expect them too much to vary from the figures of the A4 with the same engine, transmission and drive layout.
Remarkably, controls its high performance considering the 349bhp S5 model a claimed economy figure of 38.2mpg. CO2 emissions 170 g / km, meaning an annual road tax bill of £ 205
As with all Audis, the A5 is a three-year / 60,000-mile warranty. While this is not bad, it's a little far behind its competitors (although exactly the same as Lexus offers). Both Mercedes and BMW also offer three-year warranty as standard, but they have not mileage restrictions -. A blessing these cars "probably high mileages consideration
much new to do in terms of residual values, this is A5 to us a final judgment - it is not even on sale in the UK - but Audis are in . usually good to stand on the used market so we do not expect the A5 - the sale in smaller numbers than the A4 - write all that much and residual values should remain quite strong

calm and composed, but the new Audi A5 glisten not
of two 3.0-liter V6 diesel with quattro all-wheel drive POS = TRUNC automatic automatic transmission combines more powerful standard and an eight ~~. It will do in about 5.3 seconds 0-62mph and has an electronically limited top speed 155mph.
In combination with the eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, it makes for a smooth and sometimes astonishingly rapid progress though the transmission is sometimes hesitant to change gear. If you are just pootling, you are unlikely to know even the engine is turned on, but put your foot down and you will be the V6 makes a not unpleasant - yet unobtrusive - noise and you get a pretty significant nudge in the Move.
However, the whole experience is something anodyne. The A5 Diesel excite not in the same way a BMW 435d makes, but not quite as much as you cosset as an equivalent Mercedes C-Class Coupe. This is especially true when equipped with 19-inch alloys and adaptive suspension - was like our test car. He dealt quite well with some slightly uneven asphalt, but delivered even larger lumps, bumps and potholes a whopping big thwack in the cabin. However, we suspect that a car in front on smaller wheels and with a lighter engine could drive a little better. had
Overall there is not much excitement for the driver. Like its sedan sibling A4, A5 with pretty numb steering and yet sporty quattro system version comes, there are a lot of grip and composure, but nothing to reward the keen driver. have
Petrol fans can choose two turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engines, the administration 287 and 249bhp respectively and the high-performance S5, which we are now gone. Managing a 0-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds yet reached its turbo 349bhp petrol V6 engine a reasonable 38.2mpg economy figure.
As the most powerful diesel version of the S5 comes with the quattro all-wheel drive system fitted. We found that adjusted with its adaptive damping Comfort mode, the S5 has a more comfortable ride than the diesel A5 3.0-liter. The S-suspension stiffer and 23mm lower, but the quality damping does a great job on the hardness of bumps in the road surface to reduce.
A remarkable transformation occurs when you change the adaptive dampers in dynamic mode, suddenly the S5 is through curves in a manner dart situation you would not have thought it possible to experience a smooth ride after so , Although the steering does not feel exactly alive in his hands, has the quattro system loads of traction and it is simple, safe and effective to use all that power.
It must be said, however, that keen drivers can appreciate the extra feeling and tension through the rear-wheel drive chassis of the BMW 3 Series offered.

as we expect are to have come, the Audi A5 has a rich, intuitive interior
not surprisingly, the Audi A5 interior spot-on. Beautiful to look at, intuitive and designed using very high quality materials, it is almost identical to the found in an Audi A4. Obviously, this is not a bad thing, with swaths of leather and aluminum everywhere making it feel inviting and modern.

to use as always, the Audi MMI infotainment system is easily accessed with all the important functions of a steering wheel on the center console. This wheel also features a touch-sensitive pad that can be used to write on both letters and make "pinch-and-zoom 'gestures.

All specifications Britain have not been announced, but we have an idea of what equipment to standard. All vehicles have xenon headlights , LED daytime running lights, Bluetooth connectivity and the MMI radio plus infotainment system. This is controlled by a seven-inch color screen on the dashboard, while also LED tail lights and interior lighting as standard LED.
the list of options offers the brilliant virtual cockpit digital instrument display. the 12.3-inch TFT screen replaces the traditional dials and is fully configurable, capable of doing things shows how Navi directions, speed, speed and fuel efficiency, as required.

practicality & trunk

form can take precedence over function on the Audi A5, but it is not totally impractical
Understandably, the A5 make some sacrifices of practicality on behalf of his looks more stylish. in the back can be a bit of a fight are due this Swooping roof, but if you are in, there is plenty of room for a couple of medium-sized adults, although anyone can find over about six feet tall and the head of the brush. Roof
The boot is quite a bit shorter than that of the A4 - to be 15 liters less exactly - but the 465 liters on offer is not compared to the competitors of the A5 poor. It is 20 liters more than you will find in the BMW 4 Series and 65 more than the Mercedes C-Class Coupe offers. It is also the almost 100 liters more than you will find in the Lexus RC.

reliability and safety

Security be first class should, but it is still too early, on the Audi A5 reliability comment
We have no concerns about the Audi A5 in terms of safety. It is only about mechanically and structurally identical to the A4, which received the full five NCAP stars of Euro, including a 0% adult occupant protection rating. There are also many standard safety kit, in addition to all the mandatory things like electronic stability control, antilock braking system, a plurality of air bags, tire pressure sensors and ISOFIX child seat attachments. There are also pre-sense system of the city of Audi, which can stop the car automatically at low speeds, the effects of a collision either stop or reduce.
It is still too early to make a final decision about the new A5 reliability. is on the one hand, although this is a completely new car, many of the oily bits - such as the engines and the quattro all-wheel drive system - has been around a while and so successful. However, we have to hear the digital instrument cluster some problems with the virtual cockpit, the "annoying" fit into and not as "catastrophic" category.
Even in the 21st place overall objective of Audi (from 32 manufacturers in our 2016 energy Owner Satisfaction Survey driver) is about easy, especially from the 13th place in 2015. Of equal concern is considering his ranking of 23 for reliability, although a sixth place for build quality well deserved.
