"The Volkswagen Touareg is a decent road car, but lurking under the luxurious interior, the mechanicals of a serious off-road machine."

The Volkswagen Touareg is the answer of the German mark to the likes of the Mercedes GLE and BMW X5, but it shares many parts with the recent Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. It is the largest and most luxurious model in the Volkswagen range, and the high price reflects this - it is also the most expensive
Stylistically The Touareg is clearly a VW, with the same design elements found on. everything touching on the latest Tiguan, including a full-width grille, narrow headlamp units with intelligent LED daytime running lights and a lot of clean design of the Golf hatchback. It's not the most interesting design, but it looks sophisticated and high quality in restrained manner.

It's the same story inside , There is a simple dashboard design with a central touchscreen infotainment system, an elevated center console and many high-quality materials and leather. It has only five seats, so you need to look at something like the Audi Q7 or Land Rover Discovery for more space, but the Touareg is still very spacious with a big boot.
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel in two power levels - 201bhp or 258bhp. Volkswagen claims that the Touareg than 40mpg more back, while the 258bhp version to go from 0-62mph in little more than 7 seconds, so it's no slouch, despite its size.

customers can choose from four Touareg trim levels called SE, R-Line, R-Line plus and Escape. The first two ones will appeal to only use the car in the city and on the road normally, while the Escape version is aimed at going off-road, with with some other bumpers that better suited to off-road greater approach and departure angles for steep slopes. R-Line models add alloy wheels, a sporty looking bodykit and sport seats that will appeal to those looking for a cheaper alternative to the Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne. Top spec R-Line Plus models for even bigger alloy wheels and luxurious cabin materials and additional safety systems.
On the subject of price entry Touareg costs £ 43,00, which seems a lot for a Volkswagen. However, all models are coming with DAB radio, Navi, automatic climate control and leather upholstery, plus it should keep a good part of its original value over the years. The Land Rover Discovery and Porsche Cayenne will have better performance in this area, however.
